Search Engines On The Internet
The internet is a vast source of information from where one can get anything and everything. Other than sending and receiving mails and file transfers, internet is heavily used for downloading information. Downloading information was never that easy before coming of the search engines without which it would have been very difficult to find information on the web. A few decades before internet was not that popular as it is now. The major reason of this is that we can access anything on the internet and we do this with the help of search engines. They do give us an easy platform from which we can search things.
The search engine is a wonderful tool through which we can search for information on the internet. The output that comes in after the search is generally called hits. For one search criteria there can be several hits. From one hit we can find loads of information and when there are several hits then one can guess the tremendous amount of information that we can get from one search. The hits that we get can be in the form of pictures and other files. These robust engines are a mixture of algorithm and human input.
Before the advent of search engines there were a complete list of web servers from which one has to find the information which was not that easy until the tool for searching the web called Archie was discovered. Archie stands for achieve of web servers which can be referred as the birth of Search Engines.
